Signing Up
Q:
Why should I join? Aren't I just giving my visitors a way to leave my site?
A:

Not really. While you are providing a way for visitors to exit your site, you have to realize that eventually, they are going to leave anyway. Studies show if a visitor is interested in your site, they will stay until they're satisfied and then jump off. If they are not interested, they'll jump off right away. In either event you may as well get some extra credit for their visit, ie: 1 to 1 exchange plus all the new members in your downline when anyone enrolls in BannersGoMLM.com after visiting your site. Plus, the way our code works, when someone clicks a banner, it opens a new browser window, so the visitor never actually leaves your site!

Q:
Can I join more than one banner exchange?
A:

Sure. No problem. Join as many as you like. We suspect you'll be a little disappointed with the other guys, though. ;-)

Q:
Where do I sign up?
A:

Right . . . here!

Q:
Do I have to have a banner to start earning credits or building my downline?
A:

No. You can start earning credits AND building your downline right away as soon as your site is accepted into the BannersGoMLM.com network. Simply sign up, then paste the code on your web pages, upload them to the web, and you'll start earning your one to one exchange PLUS anyone who signs up after visiting your site will be placed on your Level 1 Downline.

Q:
I have more than one web site... can I enroll each one without "stacking"?
A:

Yes.

The easiest and best way to do this is to simply create one "master" account. Get the banner code and paste it on all the pages for all of your web sites (don't forget to change the "number" or auto-generate the code in your Account Manager for each page). Then, in your Account Manager, submit banners for each of your sites. You can have as many banners as you like and you can have different link-to URLs for each one. And, you'll be able to see individual statistics for each banner - see "Add/Modify Your Banner(s)" in your Account Manager. You can even "weight" your banners by defining a Priority for each one. Say you have two sites and you want to promote one twice as much as the other. Simply define the Priority of the banner you want to display more to twice as much as the Priority of the other. So you could set it to 100, and the other banner to 50. Or 10 and 5. Etc. You can continue this process with more than two banners also. For example, with three banners, you could define the Priorities as 15, 10 and 5. For every 6 showings of your banners, the first one will appear 3 times, the second 2 times, and the third 1 time. If you don't set Priorities for your banners, they will all show equally.

Another option for multiple sites is to create a totally different account. Do not try to sign up under yourself, as this is "stacking" and is not allowed (your account will be terminated and your information will be published as a cheater if you try this). Instead, sign up using the same link you originally signed up under. If you don't remember, simply sign up here (if your cookies are on, the system will remember automatically for 30 days). Having another account will, unlike in the first option above, allow each of your sites to use impression credits earned only at that particular site rather than from total credits earned at all your sites (if that is important to you), but you will also have a different downline for each account.

Pasting the Code
Q:
What is this "code" you keep talking about?
A:

The "code" is the html programming that you place on your web page. When installed properly, the code will display the BannersGoMLM.com exchange banners as well as the link back to the BannersGoMLM.com web site. See the bottom of this page (and most of the pages on this site) to see an example of what the code will look like on your site.

To get the code, either refer to the "Welcome" email you received when you signed up, or, login to your Account Manager and go to the "Get BannersGoMLM.com HTML Code" area.

Q:
Okay, I've got the code, now how do I get it on my web page?
A:

For detailed instructions on installing the code on your page(s), click here.

Q:
When I paste the code on my page, the code itself shows up, not any banners. What do I do?
A:

You installed the code onto the page itself, and not into the "source code" of the page.

Example: If you are using Internet Explorer or Netscape, right click on this page. Select the "View Source" option. This will bring up a display of the source code for this page. Each html page on the internet has a "source code" that tells the browser how to display the information you want. Your web page will have similar looking "source code" where you will need to paste the code that we provide.

You will need to redo the installation. For detailed installation instructions, click here.

Q:
Do I have to place the code any particular place on my page(s)?
A:

No, you can place it anywhere on your site. Any pages, top, bottom, middle... it matters not... so long as it is visible and not "hidden" in any way.

Q:
Can I paste the code on more than one page?
A:

Yes. In fact, we highly recommend doing so. By taking advantage of our multi-page code, you can leverage one single visitor into multiple credits. For example, if your average visitor views 6 pages on your site, if you have the code installed on each of those pages, you'll get 6 exchange impressions for that visitor, instead of only one! Instructions for installing code on multiple pages can be found in your Account Manager in the "Get BannersGoMLM.com HTML Code" area. Please note that while you can install the code on as many pages as you wish, statistics are only available for your top 99 pages. (You'll still get your normal credit, you just won't be able to see performance information for pages beyond 99.)

Banners
Q:
What are the specifications for BannersGoMLM.com banners?
A:

Your banner should be 250 pixels wide by 72 pixels high. It must be no more than 9.5k in filesize. Animated banners are okay. It should in GIF format.

Q:
How do I make a banner?
A:

There are a couple options for obtaining a banner for use at BannersGoMLM.com. First, you can of course make your own banner the "old-fashioned" way by using a graphics program and designing it from scratch. Just remember, the dimensions are 250x72 pixels, 9.5k is the maximum file size, animmations are okay, and make sure the image is in GIF format.

Q:
I created a banner using one of the "Wizards" but I can't upload it. The system says it's too large or of the wrong type. What gives?
A:

What is probably happening is this:

If you are using the Banner Wizard with Internet Explorer, on the last screen where your banner is complete and you are about to save it, you need to right click with your mouse on the banner and then select "Save Target As" and not "Save Picture As". If you choose "Save Picture As" it will try to save the graphic as a .bmp file which is probably causing the file to be too large (plus .bmp won't work in the BannersGoMLM.com system anyway).

So choose the "Save Target As" option and then save the graphic to your hard drive. Then upload the file to the BannersGoMLM.com system by logging in to your BannersGoMLM.com account and clicking the "Add/Modify your Banner(s)" button. (Click the "browse" button to find the banner file on your hard drive).

If your banner is STILL too large, you may need to modify and/or remove some of your text (or possibly add more!). While we have tested each of the banner templates, it IS possible to create a banner that is too large in filesize. This is due to the fact that certain graphic and text combinations can alter the optimization of the banner, making it slightly too large to use in our system.

Q:
Where can I check how well my banners are doing?
A:

Login to your Account Manager to check your account statistics.

Q:
Why don't you use a "standard" size 468x60 banner?
A:

Response, response, & more response. According to our testing and studies by ASI Interactive, larger banner ads have flat out-performed their counterparts by as much as 44%. And, even recall is improved by as much as 45%.

Our banner bar is a whopping 500x72 (i.e. two banners side by side). It gets attention! You'll want this improved response & recall for your banner.

Q:
Where do you show my banner(s)?
A:

Your banners will be shown on our other members' web pages. We have thousands of members showing banners for us and your banner will appear on their pages when we owe you credit.

Q:
I uploaded a banner to my account, but the wrong one is showing in my account manager... what's wrong?
A:

When uploading a new banner, it is possible that the incorrect banner will show for a short period of time. Newly uploaded banners are first moved to a file to be approved before they get sent to the "to-be-shown" file. If the server is busy, moving the banner takes a lower priority than does serving of banners. Once we approve your banner it will show the correct one in your account manager.

Q:
Why is my banner not showing? Why is it "censored"?
A:

If you've installed your banner but it is not being displayed (i.e. you have credits but none are being used), it is likely your banner has been "declined" by either the system or by our administrative staff. Check your banners in your Account Manger. Declined banners will be marked as "censored". The most common reason for this is that your banner was not created in the correct size. Our system requires a 250x72 pixel image. (468x60 images will not work). Other possible reasons include inappropriate content on your banner, non-English language, etc.

If censored, usually there will be a note next to your banner explaining why.

Building My Downline
Q:
How many people can I enroll on my first level? What about levels 2-5?
A:

All of your downline levels are unlimited width. You may enroll as many people as you wish on each level, end earn 10% of their page views for each one.

Q:
The BannersGoMLM.com link below the exchange banners is great for "passively" recruiting new members under me, but I want to take a more pro-active approach to building my downline. Do you have any tools I can use?
A:

Yep. Check out our Downline Building page.

Q:
Can I send out email to promote BannersGoMLM.com and build my downline?
A:

This is very, very tricky. You may send out email ONLY to those people who have requested to receive email from you. In other words, use only an "opt-in" list. You may not, under any circumstances, send email to anyone who has not specifically requested to be contacted by you. This is called spamming and is a very serious offense. Do not do it. If you are thinking about trying it, even just once, don't. If you are unsure if you have an opt-in list, contact us for approval (give us complete information about your list).

Q:
Can I post in newsgroups to promote BannersGoMLM.com and build my downline?
A:

Just like with unsolicited email, there is a certain etiquette involved with posting on internet newsgroups. You may NOT mass-post to newsgroups with an advertisement promoting BannersGoMLM.com. You may NOT post an advertisement to any single newsgroup promoting BannersGoMLM.com unless that newsgroup expressly accepts the posting of such information (almost all do not). You MAY participate in newsgroup discussions, however, and promote using a three or four line "signature" file. You may also discuss BannersGoMLM.com in newsgroup discussions, so long as your posting is not of an advertising nature.

Q:
I have more than one web site... Can I join under myself?
A:

No. This is called "stacking" and is not allowed. You may have only one account. However, you can have multiple sites and multiple banners all under your single account.

Q:
What if someone clicks to BannersGoMLM.com through my web site, but doesn't sign up right away, then comes back later and signs up? Will I still get credit?
A:

Yes. Through clever use of cookies, we've developed the system so that if someone visits us through you and then comes back anytime within 30 days, they will automatically be credited to you. Why 30 days? This is a very fair number. If someone should decide to come back beyond the 30 day mark, it is likely that they are responding to the efforts of another BannersGoMLM.com member, and that member should then get the chance to gain the new downline member.

To further protect your marketing efforts, you should know that, in no event, will we ever reassign someone from your downline to someone else's. Even if specifically requested! You earned them, you keep them!

Q:
I signed up and pasted the code on my web site, but if I click the link under the banner, it takes me to the home page but does not track to my account (someone else's account name shows up in the URL). Am I losing downline members who are trying to sign up under me and can't?
A:

Absolutely not! Measures have been taken to prevent members from joining the program multiple times in their own downline. If you have visited the site in the past, you will automatically be taken to the original home page you visited first whenever you come back, for up to 30 days (see previous Q & A above). Anyone else clicking on the link from your site from their browser will reach your account-coded home page at BannersGoMLM.com and join under you!

Account Management
Q:
When uploading/managing banners in my account, what does the "Priority" setting do?
A:

The "Priority" setting is for use when you want to run more than one banner in your account and want some of them to run more than others in your account. In other words, if you want to assign different "weights" to your banners. It can be left blank otherwise. Any number can be entered in the Priority field. A banner with Priority of 30 will show 3 times as much as a banner with a Priority of 10. A banner with Priority of 10 will show 5 times as much as a banner with a Priority of 2.

Q:
Why can't I upload a banner directly from the internet?
A:

Our system requires you upload your banner directly from your hard drive. If your banner is not stored on your hard drive, but is instead located on the web somewhere, then you first need to save the banner to your hard drive. To do this, go to the URL of your banner, then right mouse click on it and use the "save as" to save it to your local hard drive. (Make sure to remember the directory to which you save it.) Then you can proceed with uploading your banner as normal.

Q:
In my "Pages" Stats, some of my pages are marked as "unknown"... What does that mean?
A:

This is normal. Sometimes browsers (the average is 5-10% of all shows) do not transfer the "referer", so a CGI script is unable to figure from what page the call was made. Such shows are marked as "unknown".

Q:
My account has more credits than my banner is being shown... Why?
A:

If when you joined BannerGoMLM.com you installed code on your pages but waited to upload a banner to your account, then your account would have accrued credits which would have been saved for you. To activate these credits you need to set the "Shows Per Day" setting under "Your Account Information" in your Account Manager. The "Shows Per Day" setting is the maximum number of times your banner(s) will show in one day. If you are earning 1000 credits per day be sure to set the "Shows Per Day" setting to a higher number. Your banner will not be shown more than the number in the Shows Per Day field, regardless of how many new credits you are earning.

This will also apply if you've purchased additional advertising. Be sure your Shows Per Day is set to some number so that the system knows to display your credits above and beyond what you are earning in the exchange.

Rules
Q:
Can I keep reloading the page where I've installed the code so that I get lots of credits?
A:

Ahem. No. You can try, but you will be cheating. More than that, you'll be stealing from BannersGoMLM.com and all the other members in the network, including advertisers who have paid us to place their banner in the network.

We are extremely vigilant in defending the network against cheaters. What do we do? We not only monitor the network 24/7 with state of the art tracking software to "flag" suspicious accounts, we also check the system 'round the clock with good ole fashioned human monitoring.

This means that cheaters WILL be caught, and when they are, it isn't pretty (for them).

Go to the Cheaters Page to find out more.
